As much as we don’t want to say goodbye to summer, it’s nearly time for Autumn, so let’s get our knitwear out of the wardrobe and embrace the change of season. With Autumn comes beautiful golden sunset colours, red, burnt orange, purple and olive green, and we’re here for it!
A new season means new colours and trends in nail art, so let’s take a look at this year’s trending nail art designs for Autumn.
3D design using statement crystals
We’re in love with this funky, chunk Autumnal set from Lisa Johnston, a fabulous mix of tiny pointy back crystals and large chunky glass leaf embellishments. The classic colours of Autumn trees really pop against the simple background colours of the nails. Lisa used the Autumn Vibes mix to create this pretty design.Gold shades
Here, the very talented Scarlett Senter creates exquisite designs, then adds a simple but effective touch of sparkle using flatback nail art rhinestones. In both of these sets Scarlett uses varying shades of gold crystals, along with the very popular Clear crystal, to bring the design to life. Popular gold rhinestones for nail art include Aurum, Honey and Gold Quartz.
Cabochon embellishments
For something a little different, Lisa incorporates flatback cabochons into her nail art. Cabochons are smooth rounded embellishments that come in many different colours, patterns and effects. She takes inspiration from the marble effect of the stone to create a similar design on the accompanying nail, and places tiny gold caviar beads in between the stones to complete the look.
Not so traditional Autumn colours
In one of Scarlett’s most recent designs, she showcases colours that aren’t usually associated with Autumn, but it still works beautifully as an end of summer theme. The muted tones of the green and mustard yellow bring us away from the bright sunshine and into the idea of a dusk sunset. She’s added only a few crystals to two nails, drawing our eye to the intricate hand painted patterns – a very clever feature.
Feature crystal nail
Brilliant nail artist and YouTube sensation Natalie Mugridge has used the Cosy Nights crystal mix to create an unusually pretty Autumn pumpkin design. The inspiration behind these colours partly comes from Pantone’s Autumn trending neutrals collection, but also the idea of snuggling up in a fluffy cream blanket with a mug of cocoa, looking up at the dark evening sky. Natalie uses the non hotfix crystals and pretty raindrop shapes to create a feature nail – a big trend in nail art that will go on forever.
Autumn abroad
In this creative set (which includes an opening door nail!) Natalie uses the Autumn Zest mix of crystals to bring a bit of colour to the design. She describes it as a ‘door to paradise’ and the colours in the mix work beautifully with her sunset image, with the brighter colours representing the gradual change from Summer to Autumn.
Scattered rhinestones
In this simple but fun autumn inspired set, Lisa scatters flatback rhinestones onto the nail, using crystal fix glue. The variety of sizes and traditional autumn coloured crystals compliment the ombre effect of the gel colours she’s used.
Crystal shapes
We love these two sets by Natalie Mugridge, the use of the fiery orange crystal shape and varying shades of orange and gold rhinestones really bring out the Autumnal feel. She uses the Preciosa Fire mix of crystals to pick out the orange features, with the flame shape creating the image of a pretty pendant necklace.
We hope you’ve been inspired by these traditional and not so traditional Autumn themed nail art ideas, as always, we’d love to see your own creations at sales@crystalparade.co.uk
