If like us here at Crystal Parade, you’re passionate about craft, upcycling and DIY, you’ll be looking out for fun and creative ways to make a homemade gift this Mother’s Day. And for that extra special touch, why not add some sparkle to your project? We’ve come up with some quick and easy rhinestone craft ideas for making that perfect handmade gift this Mother’s Day.

1. Crystallized soap dispenser – With Zodiac self adhesive rhinestone sheets, it’s easy and cheap to bling up an everyday object like this soap dispenser. Simply cut to size, peel away the backing and apply!2. Blinged lipstick – Another fun way to use the crystal sheets is to cover a lipstick case. And if the recipient is a glamourous gal, you could also bling up some makeup brushes, nail lamp, compact mirror or make-up case. We’ve used the AB sheets, the most popular rhinestone colour.

3. Personalised champagne flute – For most Mothers or Mother figures, a sentimental gift is often the most treasured. So why not personalise something special. We’ve crystallized ‘Mum’ onto this flute using Preciosa AB rhinestones, but you could also do a vase, mug or an other type of glass. For an easy to follow How To guide, see our YouTube video here.4. Beaded hat – Our talented Jen has sewn some pretty Zodiac beads onto this fantastic crocheted hat. The simple addition of just a few sparkly bicone beads has really elevated the hat, and you could do it with any other item of clothing. See our blog for a full guide on how to attach rhinestones to fabric.5. Crystal embellished handbag clip – Here we’ve enhanced a plain and rather boring handbag clip by gluing on some Preciosa Ruby flatback rhinestones. We used Gem Tac glue and a pick up tool to create this dazzling effect in less than half an hour. See our quick video guide here.

6. Embellished perfume bottle – Try elevating a simple perfume bottle by adding non hotfix rhinestones to the lid. We’ve used Gem Tac glue to apply Preciosa Aurum gold crystals to this Michael Kors bottle, it brings an added sense of luxury and also has that homemade personal touch – you can’t buy that in the shops!
7. Children’s handprint art – For a personal and sentimental gift, why not get your children involved to create a handmade piece of art. Get messy and have fun making handprints, then when dry, glue on some flatback craft rhinestones to add a bit of sparkly detail. It’s a gift any Mum or Grandma will treasure.
8. Baby’s footprint decoration – Another great sentimental homemade present ideal for new Mum’s (and Grandmother’s too), is a footprint decoration. You can buy air-dry craft clay from Hobbycraft for under £5, simply roll out the clay and cut to your desired shape and size. Then once you’ve made your baby’s hand or footprint, make a small hole in the corner for threading some ribbon or cord and allow it to dry for 24 hours until solid. We’ve threaded some Preciosa bicone beads through with leather cord to give a bit of extra sparkle!
9. Crystallized flowers in box frame – Using a cricut machine to cut out shapes, patterns and wording is the latest trend in DIY and craft. Gill used her cricut to create these intricate, pretty flowers and the vinyl ‘Love you Mum’ heart. Once the flowers were assembled, Gill glued on some Zodiac Clear diamantes to give that extra touch of sparkle.
10. Pearl embellished hat – And last but not least, our talented Jen has again customized her own hand crocheted hat, this time with Preciosa round pearls. The pearls have a hole running through the centre which enables them to be sewn onto any fabric. Here Jen has used Cream pearls to match the pompom.
