When my friends and I got tickets to go and see George in concert, we knew we had to make the jacket!
The first thing we had to do was find some denim jackets. I got lucky and managed to find one in a local charity shop, but they are relatively easy to find in most clothing stores, my friend bought his from ASOS. The one that I bought is dark blue to get it as close to the real thing as possible.
The next thing we needed was the writing. I considered painting the letters on, but after some practice I decided the font was going to be too difficult to match. Also, I had quite a tight deadline as we only had the idea to make the jackets… a week before the concert! So, I took my dilemma to Google. I then discovered that George Ezra himself sells the iron on transfers on his merch site! We ordered them with the quickest delivery we could and then had to wait……
Once the hotfix transfers arrived, along with the themed patches we ordered, I decided to get some help with the ironing, from a professional… my mum. Whilst she started ironing, we soon came to the realisation that the transfers we had ordered didn’t work on my jacket the way I wanted them to, they were too big to go across the shoulders on my denim jacket. Fortunately, George wears 2 styles of the jacket so I opted to go for the larger print across the middle. Once mum had ironed the patches and the yellow ‘Gold Rush Kid’ transfer on to the denim jackets it was time for the fun part… the blinging with non hotfix flatback rhinestones!
The next thing I did was to choose some crystals. The rhinestones I chose which I felt would look great and give the yellow transfer a little touch of sparkle, were the Preciosa ss12 in the bright yellow Citrine. To add the flatback crystals, I used Gem Tac glue, a syringe, a flipper tray and Crystal Katana. I decided not to use too many crystals as I didn’t want it to be too over the top, although… can you really have too much sparkle? Once I had crystallized the jackets, I left the them to dry overnight ready to wear the next day at the concert. We had a fabulous time dancing and dazzling in our bespoke crystallized jackets!

Although George didn’t see the jackets himself, everyone else did in the Utilita Arena because we saw the camera panning round and took the opportunity to hold our jackets up for everyone to see. I’m off to see George again in March so I may upgrade my outfit and add even more bling … watch this space.
