Crystal Parade were lucky enough to sponsor the very talented sugar artist Emma Jayne Cake Design once again, at this years Cake International, held at the NEC Birmingham. Emma Jayne, whose past showstoppers include ‘Warhorse’ and ‘Wedding Gowns Through the Ages’ cakes, outdid herself this year with her King Charles III masterpiece.

Emma Jayne’s stunning sugar work needed some Crystal Parade sparkle to bring His Majesty to life, and we were on hand to provide just the thing – crystals, crystals and more crystals!

For the crown, orb, scepter and medallion, Emma Jayne added hundreds of Zodiac non hotfix rhinestones in Clear crystal using a sticky piping gel. The Zodiac crystals were sizes 4mm, 5mm and 6mm giving thousands of light reflections shining off His Majesty under the spotlights. We also provided some gorgeous vintage Swarovski crystals in Emerald and Sapphire to create the detail of the jewels in the crown and orb. What a stunning piece of artistry!

To apply each crystal individually by hand is a time consuming and painstaking task, especially when there are hundreds to be added. But Emma Jayne’s life was made easier with the Crystal Katana, an innovative rhinestone pick up tool that no crafter or blinger should be without. The Katana is a handy tool for picking up and placing crystals, as well as other embellishments.

The show was a huge success and another fantastic achievement for Emma Jayne Cake Design, we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next year!
