It’s been a busy summer full of thrilling projects at Crystal Parade. Not only have we been involved in making a stunning new dress for the waxwork of the Queen at London’s Madame Tussauds, we’ve also been putting the finishing touches on the costumes of West End stars. Read on to find out more…
Kinky Boots is Back in Town
One of the world’s best loved musicals, and winner of six Broadway Tony awards - Kinky Boots the musical is making its UK premiere this month at the Adelphi Theatre. Based on the film of the same name, Kinky Boots has been a hit on Broadway and now it’s back where the story began with a British cast.
This new musical is based on a true story, with music and lyrics from none other than Cyndi Lauper herself. The previews wowed audiences in August, with the official opening on 15th September. Running over the Christmas and New Year period, the show is set to be a festive extravaganza for many families, and booking has been extended to February 2016.
Crystals Galore
We were asked by the West End production to supply all of the crystals and embellishments needed for the costumes of Kinky Boots. As many of the Crystal Parade team are involved in theatre, we grabbed the opportunity with both hands!
Throughout July and August we worked closely with the production team, supplying hotfix crystals and sew on stones for each costume. We were also invited along to a dress rehearsal of the performance, which was actually amazing. It’s great to see our crystals in action on the stage, but Kinky Boots it also an incredible show-stopping production - we highly recommend it.
