As the leaves begin their graceful descent from the trees, and a cosy chill fills the air, lovebirds all around the world are drawn to the enchantment of Autumn. In recent years, there has been a remarkable surge in the popularity of Autumn weddings, with the colour changing season bringing with it a sense of warmth and love. The colour palette of an Autumn wedding is a big change from that of a traditional Summer wedding, with noticeable differences in the décor, guests outfits, bridesmaid dresses, grooms suit and more frequently in recent years, the brides wedding gown.

We’re saying ‘goodbye’ to traditional bright whites, pearls and silvers, and ‘hello’ to warmer, more inviting tones of gold, purple, blue and dusk pink. According this this years Autumn/Winter colour trend forecasts, we’ll see a rise in blue tones, from milky pale blue, to midnight navy. Teamed with neutral and muted tones including gold, cream, pink and brown, this pop of blue offers a cosy, rather than cold feel.

And this combination of neutral tones with a pop of colour is becoming more popular in the wedding industry too, with brides looking to steer away from the usual white, cream and diamante crystal for their bridal manicure.

Be inspired

We’re loving the warm but subtle tones of Lisa Johnston’s nail art, the colours she uses representing the change from Summer to Autumn beautifully. And still with the elegance fit for a bride on her big day.

With Lisa being our go-to nail tech for bridal nail designs, we asked her about the popularity of Autumn weddings and how she would create nail designs for ladies looking for a less traditional finish. Like the forecasters, Lisa enthused about golds, pinks, browns and white opal as a popular colour this year, not only for brides, but for the whole bridal party including bridesmaids and mother of the bride/groom.

Lisa was inspired by the Cosy Night’s mix of Preciosa crystals (above), to create three glamourous sets, perfect for on trend Autumn inspired nails. The White Opal and Vintage Rose crystals particularly stand out as ideal subtle colours for brides.

1. In this set, Lisa shows the versatility of White opal flatback crystals. The subtle sparkle of the pearlescent gems tie in beautifully with the pink and cream, offering an elegant finish and steering away from the usual white lacy design we often associate with wedding nails.

2. Lisa isn’t afraid of using the bold cobalt blue in this stunning design, any Mother of the Bride can make a statement with these nails! She uses the blue raindrop and crystals from the Cosy Night’s mix, along with White Opal and Gold Quartz to add that sprinkling of glitz and glamour. The marble effect nails accompanying them, brings the whole set back to a calmer and more neutral feel, with hints of dusky pink shining through.3. Another stunning set from Lisa, incorporating those trending Autumn themed colours. We love the 60’s feel design with the swirl pattern and brown tones, and the nail art rhinestones really do sparkle against the matte finish of the nails.
