Once again, Zodiac crystals have been thrown into the spotlight, this time on stage as part of Sam Smith’s Gloria tour outfit. As well as their music, Sam is known for their iconic and sometimes controversial outfits; this fabulous black feather creation by designer Christian Cowan is certainly a talking point.
And Sam is no stranger to a bit of bling, they claim that this collab with Jimmy Choo was one of the ‘funnest outfits’ they’ve ever worn.
Sam’s most recent rhinestone outfit, donned for the current Gloria tour, featured some dazzling rhinestone underwear, created by Paul Rawson-Campbell. The black crystal thong, encrusted with Zodiac and Preciosa sew on rhinestones, certainly sparkled on stage.

Paul used a mix of sew on crystals in the Zodiac brand, including peardrops, emerald cut and round rivoli, in varying shades of black and silver. These large faceted sew on rhinestones are a choice for covering a bigger area, especially if you want to achieve a fully encrusted look. They have a hole either side so can be sewn onto the fabric, offering extra durability. The sew on stones were interspersed with flatback hotfix clear diamante rhinestones from Preciosa, and Paul used three different sizes – 4mm, 5mm and 6mm to bring texture and depth to the design.
The overall look of the glittering garment perfectly finished off the iconic outfit, which also featured the amazing devil horned hat by Stephen Jones Millinery, boots by Roker Atelier and corset by Ed Marler.
