Jet black crystals for a dramatic finish
Jet is a pure black rhinestone with no coating or colour shift. Its sparkle is softer than Clear or AB (Aurora Borealis) crystals, catching the light as you move. Against black or navy fabric it adds a gentle glint up close, while on white, pastels and brights it gives strong contrast and crisp definition to outlines, lettering and patterns.
These are Zodiac flatback non hotfix rhinestones from our own crystal brand. Flatback means the stone has a flat base that sits neatly against your fabric or surface, and non hotfix means you'll fix it in place with glue. Zodiac crystals are made from good quality glass with a durable foil backing and scratch-proof coating, and they're a cost-effective alternative to Swarovski and Preciosa. The Zodiac range has earned 1,500+ five-star reviews.

-
SS20 (5mm): packs of 100 or 1,440. A popular all-rounder for dancewear, clothing and accessories.
-
SS30 (6.5mm): packs of 36 or 288. Bigger stones for Irish dance dresses, shoes and focal points.

What to use jet black rhinestones for
-
Dance costumes: Irish dance, ballroom and Latin costumes, plus gymnastics leotards. Jet is a popular choice for male dancewear, where a darker sparkle suits the look.
-
Theatre, burlesque and drag: bold black detailing that shows up well under stage lights
-
Shoes and accessories: dance shoes, bags, belts and hats
-
Nail art: SS10 stones for statement accents
-
Craft and cardmaking: greetings cards, scrapbooking, tumblers and home decor
Pair Jet with other dark shades
Blending Jet with a lighter or shinier shade gives your design depth, and it's a lovely way to create an ombre fade.
-
Jet Hematite: a dark steel tone with a metallic finish, great when you want a little more shine
-
Black Diamond: a lighter, smoky grey that bridges the gap between Jet and Clear
You'll find more black and grey rhinestones from Preciosa, Zodiac and Luna in our black rhinestones collection. Want to apply with heat instead of glue? Jet also comes as Zodiac hotfix crystals.
How to apply non hotfix rhinestones
-
Choose your glue. Gem Tac is our recommendation for fabric, including stretch fabric, and you can also use it on glass and phone cases. For tumblers and other pieces that will be washed or get wet, E6000 Plus+ dries clear and is waterproof once cured.
-
Use a small dot of glue. You only need enough to hold the stone. Too much will squeeze out around the edges and dull the sparkle.
-
Place each stone. Pick the crystal up with a wax pencil or pick-up tool and press it gently into place, foil side down.
-
Let it cure. Check the drying time on your glue before wearing, washing or handling your piece.
Top tip: when you're working on stretch fabric, stretch it to about the tension it'll have when worn before you apply your stones. They'll be less likely to pop off when the garment moves.
