While New York Fashion Week seems a distant memory for some, we’re still talking about the nail art trends that were seen on the catwalks. From hot pink and red to sleek metallics, we’ve chosen our top 5 looks from the runway and found the perfect nail art crystals to finish the look.
Fresh Chrome – Straight from the catwalk shows of Tommy Hilfiger comes the sleek chrome finish. Whether it’s silver, gold, copper or rose gold, the shiny metallic coating certainly made a statement. Renowned nail artists Naomi Yasuda and Holly Falcone both champion the fresh chrome finish as a Spring trend, and we’ve found the perfect nail art rhinestones to match. Try Zodiac Rose Gold for a pretty subtle pink/gold colour, Preciosa’s Aurum for a luxurious and expensive looking crystal, or Labrador – a bright metallic silver colour.Bubble Nails – Celebrity nail artist Gina Edwards is all about adorning the nails with embellishments, whether it’s studs, chains or bubbles. The full coverage look is a big trend right now, and we’ve found a great way to recreate this style. The Preciosa crystal ball in AB looks like a miniscule Eden Project dome, the perfect little sparkly embellishment. Or you could use a vintage glass cabochons, usually used in jewellery making but in this case ideal for applying to nails.Vampy Red – A blast from the past maybe? But it’s making a comeback that’s for sure. As well as the usual nude nails, the runways were also splashed in bright blood red. We’ve got a great selection of red nail art rhinestones and other accessories such as caviar beads and crystals shapes. Try Preciosa Ruby for a slightly pink shade, or Siam for a deep rich red wine colour.Pearlescent – Models walking for Tory Burch opted to wear an upgraded ‘naturally buff’ look for their nails – a neutral flesh tone colour with added pearlescent shine. This is an easy look to create at home, with dozens of pearlescent nail polish shades on the market, and we’ve found the perfect non hotfix gems to suit the theme. White Opal is a milky opal crystal with subtle flecks of gold shining through when the light hits. You could also achieve the smooth shiny finish with the Zodiac pearls in neutral tones, adding some to the base of the nail with Crystal Fix nail glue.Barbiecore – Trending as ‘Barbiecore’, hot pink is the latest colour to hit the nail art world as well as our wardrobes. We’ve seen Pantone Colour of the Year Viva Magenta all over the Batsheva and Peter Do shows in NY, so don’t be afraid to go big with hot pink crystal manicures. From mixed nail art crystals, to flatback rhinestones, to pearl embellishments – we have it all, and in every shade of pink you can imagine!
