The popularity of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing is soaring this year, as it continues to beat rival The X Factor. The ballroom spectacular has been consistently drawing in more viewers week on week, and last weekend had a peak audience of 11.4 million - while The X Factor lagged behind with 7.4 million viewers.

And the show’s success doesn’t stop there - not only is Strictly beating its direct talent show rival, the Sunday rating battle also seen the dance show overtake the brand new series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! The results show pulled in a peak of 11.2 million while Ant and Dec managed to draw in 11.1 million viewers.

So what is making Strictly so addictive this year? We’ve always loved the glamour and impressive routines on the show, but most people would usually watch The X Factor on a Saturday night. Now, more and more viewers are choosing to tune into the ballroom competition instead - and with the show at the Blackpool Winter Gardens next week it’s bound to get even more exciting. It must be the sequins!

The dance costumes are undoubtedly one of the best bits about watching Strictly. From blingtastic leotards to eye catching themed costumes, each week brings a host of creative designs. Of course, it makes it even more interesting that it’s a group of celebrities dressing up wonderfully each week and strutting their stuff. To celebrate this season’s Strictly success, here are some of our favourites so far…

Katie’s Risqué Split
Last weekend contestant Katie Derham braved a very, very high split gown for her Rumba with Anton- which certainly got people talking on Twitter!

Flirty Feathers for Kirsty
Kirsty Gallacher took to the dancefloor in a bright blue flattering dress, with flirty feathery trim on the skirt. We absolutely loved it.
