Why choose Luna crystals?
Luna is the most affordable of the four crystal brands we stock, alongside Zodiac, Preciosa and Swarovski. It's the one costume makers and crafters reach for when a project needs thousands of stones and the budget has to stretch.
- Glass, not plastic. Luna crystals are machine-cut glass, which gives a brighter sparkle than acrylic or resin stones.
- 12 facets. The evenly spaced facets catch the light for a clean, bright finish.
- Silver foil backing. A smooth, matte foil reflects light back through each stone.
- Over 200 colours and effects. You'll find everything from Clear and AB to neons, opals and limited editions.
- Retail and wholesale packs. Many colours come in packs of 100 so you can try a shade first, and most come in wholesale packs too.
Whether you're decorating your first card or crystallising a full stage costume, Luna makes it easy to add sparkle to every project.

Luna flatback non hotfix rhinestones
Most of the Luna range is made up of flatbacks, which you apply with glue. They work on fabric, card, wood, glass, leather and more. Browse every Luna flatback non hotfix rhinestone by colour and size.
Luna SS3 (1.5mm) rhinestones
These tiny stones are made for nail art, face gems and fine detail work. Our Luna SS3 (1.5mm) rhinestones come in around 100 colours.
Luna sew on stones
Our AB rivoli and peardrop sew on stones add eye-catching accents to dance and performance costumes. Sew them on, or glue and sew for a more secure hold. Shop our Luna sew on stones.
Luna crystal sizes and what they're best for
Luna crystals use the SS (stone size) system. The higher the number, the bigger the stone.
- SS3 to SS10 (1.5mm to 3mm) for nail art, face gems, card making and fine detail
- SS16 (4mm) and SS20 (5mm) for dancewear, costumes, fashion and crafts, and they're our most popular Luna sizes
- SS30 (6mm) upwards for Irish dance dresses, theatre costumes, stagewear and costume jewellery
There's a possible size tolerance of 0.05mm to 0.1mm due to the manufacturing process.
Luna colours and effects
With over 200 shades to choose from, you're sure to find a Luna colour to suit your fabric or theme.
- Clear and AB: Our two most popular colours. Clear has a classic diamond-effect sparkle, and AB (Aurora Borealis) reflects every colour of the rainbow under stage lights.
- Standard colours: Jewel tones, pastels and neutrals, including Light Siam, Sapphire, Champagne and Jet.
- Satin and Shine: Solid colours with a satin sheen or an extra shimmer.
- Luminous and Opal: Soft, shimmering stones, from the moonlight glow of Crystal Luminous to the warm tones of Fire Opal.
- Neon: Bright colours that stand out on stage and in festival looks.
- Magic, Flash, Aurora and Volcano: Multi-tone coatings that blend two or more shades in a single stone.
- Transparent (unfoiled): No foil backing, so the colour of your fabric shows through. These are ideal for sheer fabrics like mesh, chiffon and lace.
- Limited editions: Seasonal and one-off colours, available while stocks last.

How do Luna crystals compare to other brands?
We stock four crystal brands, so you can match the stone to your project and budget.
- Luna: Our most affordable range, great for large costume projects, practice pieces, crafts and big areas of coverage.
- Zodiac: Our own-brand glass crystals, with extra brilliance at a cost-effective price. Explore our Zodiac crystals.
- Preciosa: Premium Czech crystal, and we're proud to be an authorised Preciosa Silver Partner. Browse our Preciosa crystals.
- Swarovski: Luxury crystal with a high-end finish for couture and showpiece designs. Shop our Swarovski crystals.
Lots of costume makers mix brands on the same piece. They use Luna to cover larger areas and save Zodiac or Preciosa for the focal points.
How to apply Luna crystals
What you'll need
- A strong glue such as Gem Tac or E6000+ (browse our full range of adhesives)
- A rhinestone pick up tool to place each crystal accurately
Step by step
- Add small dots of glue to the area you're embellishing.
- Wait around 10 seconds for the glue to become tacky.
- Pick up each crystal with your pick up tool and press it gently into place.
- Leave the glue to dry fully before wearing or handling.
Aftercare
- Hand wash embellished garments where you can, or use a cool machine wash without fabric conditioner.
- Keep crystals away from perfume, household cleaning products and direct sunlight.
- Store unused crystals in their packaging or in storage pots to protect them from scratches and chips.
